The SEO Checklist Every New Website in Kathmandu, Nepal Should Pass

By WebApp Nepal, Kathmandu · 1 min read · Published · Updated

Quick answer

A new website ranks only if its technical foundations are right: clean URLs, one H1 per page, optimized images with alt text, schema markup, an XML sitemap and a correct robots.txt. Launching alone is not enough to appear on Google.

A common misconception among first-time website owners in Kathmandu, Nepal is that simply launching a website is enough to start showing up on Google. It is not. Search rankings depend on a combination of technical foundations and ongoing content strategy, and skipping the technical side undermines everything that comes after.

Before we hand over any website, we run through a fixed checklist. Clean, readable URL structures instead of long strings of parameters. A proper heading hierarchy, with one H1 per page and logically nested subheadings, so both users and search engines understand the page structure.

Every image gets optimized and given descriptive alt text, both for accessibility and because Google Images is a meaningful traffic source for many of our clients, particularly in tourism and retail. We add schema markup where relevant, such as organization, article, or product schema, so search engines can display rich results.

An XML sitemap and a correctly configured robots.txt file are submitted through Google Search Console, along with basic verification that the site is actually indexable and not accidentally blocked. We also check Core Web Vitals and page speed, since Google has made these direct ranking factors, not just user experience nice-to-haves.

What this checklist does not do is guarantee a first-page ranking. That depends on your content strategy, backlink profile, and how competitive your target keywords are over time. What it does guarantee is that your website is not sabotaging its own visibility before that work even begins. Technical SEO is the foundation; everything else is built on top of it.
